The CD is almost ready!

Remko Schouten and Peter Akkerman from IJland studio’s worked hard on mixing the songs and I can proudly say that the end mixes have become beautiful! There will be 13 songs on the CD, and every one of those songs have become more beautiful than I could have imagined beforehand. After an energetic and inspiring period of recording with wonderful musicians and a bit trying search during the mixing process the end result has become sparkling and alternating dreamy, powerful and cheerful. I can’t wait to let everyone hear it!

But first it still needs to be mastered. Right now I’m trying to come up with a nice balanced order of the songs.

Soon (When the CD is mixed and mastered) there will be a nice promo about my music directed by Andy Susumu Los. 13 November we visited some Dutch dunes with Boudewijn Rolff, Mirjam Smit, Ayrthon Sadikrama and Ant King to shoot some nice visuals. I suspect that worked out quite nice!

Only 2 and a half studio days left!

Up till now it’s going very well! My voice is strong and Remko Schouten and all the sweet musicians who play on my album are buzzing with good ideas. The songs that we’ve completed recording so far already sound better than i could have imagined, and this is only the raw material! I’m looking forward to hearing the end result of mixing and mastering in December!

Ok, here it is: Big News!
I’m going to pluck up courage and record an album at IJland studios in Amsterdam. Of course I already wanted to do this for a long time, but this year I felt I was ready and it was time! (on top of that there are only a hand full of my EP“Jewellery Box” left!) Pien Feith, who recorded her beautiful album” Dance On Time” in this studio with Remko Schouten from IJland studios, gave me the tip to check it out. So I visited the studio and met Remko there. After a short tour in the cozy studio it was clear to me this would be the place! So the 14th of september we start recording! I’m very happy to tell you some very nice and talented musicians will be contribute to my album. More about that later.

Last week I locked myself up in a little cabin in the woods in Belgium with my harp and some recording devices to record some demos of my songs. Now I have a whole stack of them to choose from. That’s exactly what I’m going to do the next 2 weeks and of course practice and rehearse with the musicians so we can ROCK in the studio!!

At the beginning of december we start mixing and after that… looking forward to it!!!

Afgelopen zaterdag speelde ik 1 liedje live op radio 1 tijdens het programma Pavlov. Altijd een beetje extra spannend, zo’n radio optreden. Ik blijf het gek vinden om te spelen voor mensen die je niet ziet. Ik had mijn mini- harpje meegenomen en kon daardoor lekker ontspannen met de trein naar de studio in Hilversum Noord. Ik heb een klein liefdes liedje gezongen die ik vorige zomer heb geschreven: ” Will You Call Me”.

Ik loop al jaren te fantaseren hoe fijn het zou zijn om een electrische pedaalharp te hebben. Niet alleen is zo’n harp heel makkelijk uit te versterken als ik live speel (2 jack uitgangen voor hoog en laag), ook is het signaal dat uit zo’n harp komt kwalitatief goed genoeg om te gebruiken voor mijn loop pedaal of andere leuke effecten! Toen kwam opeens afgelopen zondag een harpruil voor ong. 2 jaar op mijn pad met de harpiste Nanja Bakker. Het was wel even moeilijk om voor het eerst mijn harp aan iemand anders toe te vertrouwen, maar nu staat deze fantastische electrische pedaalharp van haar in mijn huiskamer, zijn alle snoertjes aangesloten en verheug ik me enorm op alle toffe dingen die ik hiermee kan gaan doen!!!

Deze harp is een Style 2000 Concert Grand en komt van de Amerikaanse harpfabriek Lyon & Healy.
Elke snaar loopt langs een metalen deel van een elementje. Binnen in de klankkast zit een zeer ingewikkeld uitziende verzameling electrawerk.
Volgens de Amerikaanse harpiste Deborah Henson-Conant kun je rustig opnemen via jack terwijl de buren op de muren bonken zonder er iets van te horen op de opnamen. We zullen zien ;)

It was the sincere love of music and the enterprising nature of the young and ambitious Healy which drove the company to improve an instrument already thought to be perfect.
